Info-Sessions on Planning and Designing a Test Questionnaire Effectively

-The School of Education organized an In-service info-sessions for its staff on how to set good Multiple Choice questions effectively. Mr Goasa, a senior lecturer of the University specialized in students assessment and educational psychology facilitate the activity very assertively.

DIVISION OF TEACHING AND LEARNING SUPPORT FOR IMPROVEMENT TO GRADE 3 CLASSROOMS AT THE NORTH GOROKA PRIMARY SCHOOL

North Goroka Primary School is a state school in the Goroka District of the Eastern Highlands Province. It was once a demonstration school for the then Goroka Teachers but since the Goroka Teachers College then became a university, the demonstration school concept has not appeared to have had a serious consideration. The University of Goroka, through the Division of Teaching and Learning, has maintained its connection with the school for various reasons such as lesson observations and micro-teaching. The school is famous for having raised the current Prime Minister, Hon Peter O’Neil.

SOE Dean now a Associate Professor
The University of Goroka, announced the academic promotion of Dr. Kapa Darius Kelep-Malpo to associate professor early this year 2015.The recognition of academic achievement of Associate Professor Malpo is the result of her hard works that are well-earned and reflect proven records of excellence. She demonstrates outstanding and sustained contributions in areas that include leadership in teaching, research and service to the University and community.
Associate Professor Malpo is the current executive Dean of the School of Education, after serving as the school’s Head for Educational Foundation Department. She graduated from UPNG with a degree in Education, completed Masters in Education in Ohio and Ph.D at Victoria University in Wellington.

Humilavekah Early Childhood Learning receives books...

UOG-HUMILAVEKAH Early Childhood Learning School – The Center of Melanesian Studies in the university donate educational books to our own Humilavekah Early Childhood Learning Center during the occasion of the 18th anniversary of the university, as the center commemorates the Melanesian week. A small gathering was organized by the center to reflect and celebrate the life and journey of the University of Goroka as this university exists within the Melanesian region.
The books are part of educational packets the center collected and distributed thought the region.
Humilavekah Early Childhood Learning school is administered by the University-School of Education for clinical laboratory of aspirant teachers who specialized in early childhood education. In several small areas and communities, families living near one another send their children to neighborhood learning center where they meet each day for classes.

SOE New Building
With plans to occupy this new renovated building, the SOE appears to be adding a second block of office in the university.
The University has approved the renovation of old male dormitory and offered to the School of education. The building would be occupied by the two divisions, the Educational Leadership and Management division on the right wing and the Special Education and Curriculum studies on the other wing. Probably a part of the building will also house the Centre for Educational Research and Publications.
The newly renovated building would include staff offices, staff lounge and coffee area, lectures rooms and a clinical laboratory for special education students.
